Kelly Stephens has been a licensed attorney in the State of Texas since 1985.  He graduated with a B.S. in Ocean Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1979 and received his J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 1985. He has extensive experience in personal injury, business, and intellectual property litigation. In addition, he has been instrumental in the formation and startup financing of a number of companies.

Prior to beginning the practice of law, Kelly worked as a manufacturing and design engineer in the oil field service industry.

He has over 30 years of trial experience, conducting in excess of 30 state court jury trials and federal jury trials.  Over one-half of the federal trials have been patent infringement cases including technologies from oilfield tools, processes, systems, computer hardware and software, and methods of doing business.  Mr. Stephens has been successful in representing both plaintiffs and defendants, with an emphasis in commercial and patent jury trials.

Outside of his law practice, Kelly is an avid outdoorsman spending much of his free time hunting and fishing.

Has participated in three committees at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo over the last 28 years, including (1) 4 years as a captain and 3 years as a vice-chairman on the Jr. Swine Auction committee over 12 years on that committee; (2) 26 years as a committeeman on the Agricultural Mechanics committee; and 6 years a committeeman on the Commercial Exhibits committee.

Houston Ducks Unlimited

Has served on the committee organizing and producing the annual Houston Ducks Unlimited Dinner event from 1987 to 2008 and was the dinner chairman and zone chairman in 1994.

Boy Scouts of America

Has served on committee organizing and producing the annual Boy Scout Sporting Clays Shoot to benefit inner-city youth here in Houston for the past 8 years.

Ira Domnitz is an attorney who brings big firm experience to his clients, without the big firm cost.  Ira worked for many years at some of the larger firms in Texas and on the national stage.  Now, he brings this experience to the more intimate setting of the law firm Stephens | Domnitz | Meineke PLLC.

Ira has practiced law before the Eastern, Northern and Southern Districts of Texas as well as represented clients before the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals with a case marked as precedential (560 F.3d 1317).  He has co-headed large, high-stakes patent litigation matters and has first and second Chair Trial experience with favorable results obtained for patent litigation and trade secret matters.  Ira has experience in drafting patents, patent opinions, and opinion letters, and has also worked on copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets for clients on transactional and litigation matters.

Ira is a graduate of Boston University School of Law, with a specialization in Health Law.  He also completed the pre-med curriculum, emphasis on Chemistry, with over 40 credit hours in hard sciences.

Outside of his law practice, Ira has prepared Intellectual Property presentation materials for conferences of 2000 delegates, as well as CLE presentations on e-discovery and the patent appellate practice. He also has other varied interests.  He wrote a novel during college, an article for the Houston Business Journal on electronic protections, and a published article on the litigation of Quantum Dot technologies.  He is a martial arts practitioner and is also involved in the local community, including being the President of the local PTO.

Leigh Meineke is a partner at Stephens | Domnitz | Meineke, PLLC and has been practicing law with area law firms for over 30 years in the fields of business law, estate planning and probate, and real estate law. Leigh Meineke received her BBA in Finance from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, and later earned her JD law degree from the University of Houston. She is admitted to practice in Texas state courts, in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and before the United States Supreme Court. Ms. Meineke is a member of the State Bar of Texas, where she has served as chair for the General Practice, Solo, and Small Firm Section.

Teaching the Next Generation of Houston Business Professionals

In addition to her legal practice, Leigh spent 13 years imparting her legal knowledge in the field of business law. She has been an adjunct professor at both the University of Houston and Houston Baptist University, teaching classes on business law and human resource management. She additionally served as an instructor teaching classes for real estate agents and taught paralegal classes at area professional schools.

A Commitment to the Community

Leigh is proud to serve the Houston community where she makes her home. She is past Chairman of the Board of the Houston West Chamber of Commerce. She is also active with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, serving as past Vice Chairman on the Transportation Committee, Captain of the Horticulture Committee, and member on the World’s Championship BBQ Committee. She also has encouraged the next generation of Houston’s leaders through her past involvement with Leadership Houston (Class III). Additionally, Leigh is a member of NightCourt.org, a 501c(3) organization raising money for charity through an annual all-lawyer charity show. Leigh is also the legal advisor and a member of the Pink Phurree Dragon Boat Team, Inc.,  an all-female cancer survivor dragon boat team competing in Texas and internationally. 

A Commitment to Family and the Future

Leigh Meineke is also a volunteer with the Texas Gulf Coast Ch.apter of AFSUSA, a program facilitating high school foreign exchange students in the Houston area. Her family has hosted four exchange students from Italy, the Czech Republic, Spain, and Azerbaijan. In addition to their AFS kids, Leigh and her husband have two daughters.


Matt’s legal practice covers all aspects of intellectual property with a particular focus on patent infringement litigation, inter partes review, and patent prosecution. His experience ranges from oilfield tools to electronic technologies such as televisions, cellular phones, microprocessors, memory systems, and digital signal and image processing. He also has experience procuring and enforcing trademarks and copyrights for his clients and assisting his clients with protection of their trade secrets.

Before joining Stephens | Domnitz | Meineke, PLLC in 2020, Matt practiced intellectual property matters for more than 12 years in the DFW IP boutique of Nelson Bumgardner Albritton P.C. and the Houston IP boutiques of Matthews Lawson, PLLC and CEP IP. During his practice Matt has presented numerous oral arguments to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington D.C. and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board at the USPTO headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia. Matt has also argued as first chair at several claim construction hearings.

Matt earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Houston Clear Lake and has an Associate degree in Mathematics. He received his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. Matt is admitted to practice in the State of Texas and the Federal District Courts of Texas and is a registered patent attorney at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
